As promised...

I promised that I would get my virutal life updated and, believe it or not, I have. The kid's website is updated with pictures and comments and now I am going to add a few videos here.

Once Kendra realized that she liked the water she decided to start exploring... I don't think she expected a mouth full :-)

Even though Kolin didn't want to go on the big water slides, he was very happy going down the little one... over and over and over!!

Great time at Boyne!

We had a great time at Boyne! Avalanche Bay was awesome. Kolin had so much fun, it was hard for him to leave. We spent nearly the entire day at the pool on Monday and then closed the place on Tuesday. Kendra even went down one of the big slides on Daddy's lap... 5 times while Kolin was content playing in the "Kidz" area - pretending to be driving a fire truck and putting out fires with the hoses. Kirk even got into it. He has 2 favorite "rides" - the Super G water slide and the Rip Zone (check out the video). We will definitely be going back next year!

Signs of spring?!

It was our first thunderstorm of the season last night. You forget how bright a flash of lightening can be and how a crack of thunder can shake an entire house - Mother Nature is fierce!

It is currently pouring buckets outside and the lake in our back yard is growing by the minute. Kolin really wants to put on his mud boots so he can go jump in the puddles. But it is still too cold. Any suggestions on how to explain to a 4 year old that even though it is not snowing that it is still too cold to go outside and play? Not the easiest task I have had lately. When will spring get here?!?!

Kendra turns one!

Our little girl turned one on February 28th. We had a great time celebrating with all of her Grandparents and other family members. The festivities started off with cake and icecream at Kirk's restaurant followed by some serious bouncing at BounceU. I believe that a good time was had by all.

Kendra had her 1 year check up today. Doctor's prognosis: healthy little girl! 20lbs. 7oz. and 28 1/8". She is in the 50th percentile for her weight and height. However, perfectly proportioned!

Parent/Teacher Conference

We experienced our first parent-teacher conference on Wednesday. Granted it was for Preschool but nontheless it was interesting. Kolin's teacher, Mrs. VanWormer couldn't say enough good things about him. She said that everyone just loves him and she also hinted that he was her favorite :-) We got to see how Kolin is progressing with his shape drawing, number and letter recognition and cutting. They do a "before and after" of sorts. They went through a series of activities with the kids in October and then again in January so they could measure their progress. It was really neat to see the difference! Both Kirk and I felt really good after talking with Mrs. VanWormer. I have to admit I had no idea what to expect but came out of it very pleased. We are beginning to think about next school year already and are leaning towards moving from a 2-day school "week" we are going to increase his attendance to 3-days, M-W-F. No if we could only get him interested in holiding his pencil (or crayon, etc.) the correct way...

Monday morning thoughts

Well we have had an exciting time the past few days... it even involved a call to the Pediatrican at 1a Saturday morning. Poor Kendra had been battling a fever for about 36 hours and it hit 102.8 and she was fussy and completely congested so I decided to call the Pediatrician to find out what I should be doing since she wouldn't eat or drink anything and Tylenol just wasn't helping as much as I thought it should. Of course all he said was to try and get her to drink cold liquids and to try Motrin if the Tylenol was working and if that didn't do the trick than maybe she should be seen in the office in the morning. I think he was a little irritated that I woke him up over a cold... but isn't that what they are paid the big bucks for?!?! I felt bad for about a second! Anyhow, I did not take her in Saturday morning since she seemed to be a little more like herself. Her fever had gone down considerably and she willing ate some oatmeal and drank a little bit of apple juice. She seems to be her happy self this morning, thank goodness!!

So how about that Super Bowl? I managed to stay up through 3 qtrs. of it. Wasn't really impressed with the commercials, or the game for that matter. Oh well... the food was good!!
